Dino Di Carlo, PhD

Dino Di Carlo is the Armond and Elena Hairapetian Professor and Chair of Bioengineering at UCLA, a serial entrepreneur, and inventor. He is a co-inventor of the MAP technology and co-founder of Tempo Therapeutics, serving on the board of directors from 2014-2024. He is an author of>190 peer-reviewed articles and an inventor of >70 issued patents in the U.S. and across the world. In addition to his academic roles, he has a history of business leadership roles. He co-founded companies in the diagnostics, medical device, and biotech/pharmaceutical industries and continues to serve on the board of directors of many of these companies, and as a scientific advisor and mentor to startups. He has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed upon young scientists and engineers in the U.S.
